 Unleash your creativity and curiosity in our Introductory Taxidermy Class! Designed for beginners, this hands-on course offers a fascinating glimpse into the art and science of taxidermy.
Class begins promptly at 10am and ends at 4pm.
We provide each student with either a skinned, cleaned, and tanned racoon, opossum, or rat hide depending on the workshop you are taking.
The first half of class is focused on preparing your form, setting the eyes, test fitting and mounting the hide, as well as grooming.
After our first 30-minute break class shifts towards plaque preparation and mounting your project.
The class runs for approximately 6 hours with two 30-minute breaks throughout the day.

Sunset Moths Entomology Class $150USD Unlock the artistry of entomology in our Introductory Bug Pinning Workshop! This hands-on experience is perfect for nature enthusiasts, aspiring entomologists, or anyone interested in the intricate craft of insect preservation. Join us as we guide you through the techniques of preparing and pining insects, transforming them into beautiful, display-ready specimens.
The AM class will begin promptly at 10am and last 2.5 hours.
You will learn the foundational skills of bug pinning, including safe collection methods, proper handling, and the step-by-step process of pinning and mounting your specimen.
Class exclusive!: Two specimens for the price of one!
Your first specimen will be a moth or butterfly that will be used to practice your newly learned pinning technique. Once you’ve completed this step we will move on to creating your unique frame and placing your Sunset Moth in its display case.
We will familiarize you with the tools of the trade, pinning supplies, insect boxes, and preservation techniques. We’ll provide all necessary materials for your workshop experience. Explore creative ways to arrange and display your pinned insects, turning your specimens into captivating works of art that reflect your personal style.

"The Play That Goes Wrong" is a comedic play about a drama society attempting to stage a murder mystery called "The Murder at Haversham Manor". However, due to a series of mishaps, everything that can go wrong, does. The play follows the accident-prone thespians of The Cornley Drama Society as they battle against props falling apart, forgotten lines, and other technical difficulties, all while trying to keep the plot afloat. The audience witnesses a chaotic and hilarious attempt to reach the final curtain call.

Ancient Greece / right here + now
The plan will always feel like a mistake. Practice the mistake. 
A lecture on Antonio Banderas’ astrological chart, a chorus questioning their calling, and a long walk in a small mortal body. Jill Connell’s poetics work backward, interlacing Greek myth and the grindset, trying to figure out how we got here. The Herald navigates the choreography of labour as it asks us for faith and gives us something like meaning, or at least a new way of paying attention. By the end of the play, all of us will know how to be in Shoppers Drug Mart, wondering how to handle time, and what will happen to all the work we do not make.

Founded by Jill Connell, our shows are based on formally-innovative texts that approach the embodied experience of how things feel, prioritizing bold aesthetics and the space we’re in. We value long-term creation processes that invite experimentation, trust, group work, and care. We aim to offer performances that have a startling sense of aliveness and possibility; that are as ferocious as they are tender. Past productions include The Supine Cobbler and HROSES: Outrage à raison, both performed in abandoned warehouses prior to becoming condos. We’ve been making The Herald since 2019, asking: what if not knowing yet can be a way of working?

It is with no small dosage of irony that highly acclaimed jazz pianists Bill Charlap and ReneeRosnes close their dynamic new duo piano album with the timeless standard “Never Will IMarry.” Marry, they have, and happily marry, they do, in musical terms on Double Portrait,a high point in their respective careers, and the first recorded example of what must beconsidered one of the finest and most empathetic piano duos in jazz history. Double Portrait is awork of significance and depth, but also flows with the casual and organic quality of musicianswith an uncommon simpatico, in life as well as in art.
Double Portrait is the latest, and another proud entry, in a series of stellar projects on Blue Notefor Charlap in the past decade, including readings of music by Leonard Bernstein and GeorgeGershwin, and another special family project, with his mother, singer Sandy Stewart. In anothermusical family tree link, the pianist’s father was famed Broadway composer Moose Charlap.Charlap the Younger has earned the respect of critics and discerning listeners, and the praise ofmusicians such as Tony Bennett, whom the pianist has also worked with.
Rosnes, who originally hails from Vancouver, has been a prominent figure in NYC and theinternational jazz scene for many years. She has recorded fourteen fine albums as a leader,nine of them for Blue Note, and has been the pianist of choice for such artists as JoeHenderson, Wayne Shorter, JJ Johnson and Bobby Hutcherson. Rosnes is also a foundingmember of the dynamic SFJAZZ Collective, with whom she performed and recorded for sixyears. Both pianists have been praised for representing the upper echelon of contemporary jazzpiano aesthetics.
Fittingly, TIME magazine once noted in a review that Charlap “approaches a song theway a lover approaches his beloved. He wants to view it from every angle – melody, harmony,lyrics, verse.” Rosnes was cited by the New York Times as “a virtuoso,” also noting that, in aconcert, “no rhythmic inflection went unexplored.”
After marrying in 2007, the couple has subsequently performed live in duo format, and withDouble Portrait, says Charlap, “finally, the time came that we were able to set it down forposterity. Itʼs a natural for us, both being admirers of each otherʼs work. The chemistry we haveas husband and wife is naturally reflected in our music, and likewise, the chemistry we have asmusicians is a part of our lives together.”
Double Portrait winds up being a unique expression of the artistry of each player, and anadded third persona rises out of the interactive blend of the two players. For repertoire, thecouple selected a diverse yet perfectly coherent range of material to explore and find mutualexpression on. While both musicians continue to tend to their personal musical lives andprojects, the Charlap Rosnes piano duo persona is now officially an ongoing venture,documented for the first time and for the ages.

Step behind the curtain of Hollywood magic with master shoemaker Jeff Churchill, founder of Jitterbug Boy Footwear. Known for crafting iconic shoes for some of the biggest films and musicals—including Wicked, Superman, Jurassic World, Oppenheimer, Spider-Man numerous Marvel blockbusters and many, many more. Jeff’s creations have helped bring beloved characters to life, one step at a time.
 In this fascinating talk, Jeff will share stories from his workshop, insights into the artistry and precision behind bespoke movie footwear, and a glimpse into what it takes to design shoes that balance fantasy with function. Whether for superheroes, villains, or Broadway stars, his work combines imagination, craftsmanship, and storytelling.

For over 25 years, Jeff Churchill has been crafting extraordinary footwear that brings characters to life. His journey into shoemaking began almost by accident — after spending his teens immersed in theatre, a twist of fate led him to the world of shoes, where he’s been ever since. Two decades ago, Jeff returned home to Toronto and founded Jitterbug Boy Original Footwear. What began as a small operation focused on circus and theatre productions soon grew into something much bigger. As his reputation for precision and creativity spread, Jeff’s work caught the attention of the film and television industries — and the rest is history. Today, Jitterbug Boy is a go-to destination for productions around the world, creating custom footwear for everything from superhero blockbusters to award-winning period dramas to beloved indie films. His shoes have appeared on the biggest stars, in the biggest movies — Pretty good for a little workshop in Toronto.

From Marvel to Wicked: In Conversation with Shoemaker Jeff Churchill

Celebrate International Women’s day with Turkwaz and Medusa Quartet at Hugh’s Room! Turkwaz is a unique combination of four musician/singers, immersed in diverse traditions from mysterious Sufi devotional love songs, to rousing Thracian dance music. Each performer brings a special flavour to the group: Maryem Hassan Tollar draws on her Arabic language heritage; Jayne Brown and Sophia Grigoriadis bring their experience with Greek music; and Brenna MacCrimmon adds Turkish elements to this mix. They have a long-standing collective interest in Balkan traditions and bring Albanian, Bulgarian and Macedonian songs (and whatever else strikes their fancy) to their repertoire. The love and respect they have for the traditions they draw from are clear, but they are not afraid to arrange the tunes in new and unexpected ways, giving them a fresh spin.
Get ready to stomp your feet, laugh, cry, and hear sounds you've never heard before with the electrifying chamber-folk band Medusa Quartet. Wielding ancient fiddle-like instruments that could propel classical music scholars right out of their chairs, these four folk musicians are reimagining the Western string quartet. Medusa Quartet cross-pollinates traditional music from around the world with original tunes, engaging stories, and their one-of-a-kind stringed instruments to create a "must-see live show!" Toronto-based Signe Miranda's Veranda is a five-piece alternative roots-rock band. The live band is led by singer-songwriter/guitarist (winner of the 2021 Musician of the Year award from the Toronto Musician's Association) and author of the #1 International Best Selling book, "The Song Creation Formula: 7 Easy Steps to Writing Your Song") Signe Miranda, with drummer, Richard M. ivytide is an indie pop band from montreal, canada. founding members, nathan gagné (vocals, guitar), jamie snytte (guitar) and kyle ruggiero (bass) met at a recording studio, where they started to develop a chemistry in their songwriting.  a mutual love for lo-fi indie music led to the production of bedroom pop songs with intricate, but catchy melodies, which float on top of well thought-out instrumentation.

Located in Toronto, the Bata Shoe Museum (BSM) regularly displays over a thousand shoes and related artefacts, chosen from a collection of almost 14,000 objects, in architect Raymond Moriyama’s iconic, award-winning building. The BSM celebrates the style, development and function of footwear across four impressive galleries, with displays ranging from Chinese bound-foot shoes and ancient Egyptian sandals to chestnut-crushing clogs and glamorous platforms.

Come celebrate one year of Trans Strip Night events!
This is an event created for and by trans people! A night of celebrating how sexy, slutty, and erotic our trans bodies are. In the face of hate and censorship, what better way than to strip and unapologetically bare it all? All trans bodies are encouraged to perform. Any form of strip is welcome. Expect a variety of strip based acts from across the trans community, including burlesque, drag, stripping, and performance art.

The Hart House University of Toronto Drama Festival is a competitive festival intended to provide an encouraging platform for the development of student talents, promotion of creativity and the recognition of excellence in theatrical performance and production. The festival provides an opportunity for U of T students from all campuses to compete for fun and adjudicated awards.
Closing out the night is our production of Harlow’s Rhesus Monkey!!
Synopsis:
Lila (late 20s) finds herself back in Toronto for a conference. She tells us about all the reasons she’s not happy to be back but the truth is it’s not the city she’s anxious about. It’s one person. Her mom: Ana. Harlow's Rhesus Monkey explores difficult questions around childhood sexual trauma and parent-child enmeshment and questions the societal norms that push women into unsafe situations. This memory play hinges on Lila’s ability to self-evaluate her needs and wants to make difficult decisions for herself.

Multi instrumentalist Marco Cera studied at the Padua Conservatory of Music (Italy) and at the Musikhochschule der Stadt Basel (Switzerland). In 1996 he was chosen as first oboe for the European Union Baroque Orchestra, and from that moment Marco has persuaded an international career as an oboist with the most renowned groups in Europe and North America. His wide discography includes works for Teldec, Opus 111, Chandos, Dynamic, Tactus. Marco moved from Italy to Toronto to play with Tafelmusik in January 2007.The pandemic inspired Marco to create a YouTube channel where he shares videos of unusual repertoire on the baroque oboe and a range of different instruments : arranging, video recording, and editing everything by himself. For Tafelmusik Marco created two multimedia shows: The Harlequin Salon in 2018, and Music & Magic in fall 2021.Marco , aka Mr Speedy Wax is proud to start the new adventure with his new Cinecitta’ project, joined by the finest performers in Toronto.

KEVIN MKAIToronto’s KEVIN MKAI creates glorious dream pop/shoegaze music that lives in the space between intimacy and atmosphere. His debut self-titled album is slated for a 2026 release.
D.B. BUXTON Multi-faceted artist D.B. Buxton’s music heralds a unique voice and dexterous guitar-work deeply rooted in folk, blues and jazz. D.B.’s colourful history as a busker living on the fringes of society informs his songs of love, loss and alienation. Fans of artists like Tim Hardin, Judee Sill and Elliott Smith will find solace in D.B.’s work. New album coming in 2026
CRAIG STICKLANDCraig Stickland is a Juno nominated pop/folk singer-songwriter. His songs are illuminated by his soulful voice and infectious melodies.
